Spotify has just crossed one of the biggest milestones in its history. The streaming giant now has 300 million paying subscribers worldwide. That’s a number few digital subscription services have ever achieved. The latest earnings report shows Spotify’s Premium business continues growing at an impressive pace.

Spotify crosses 300 million Premium subscribers, setting a new company record

The company announced its second-quarter 2026 financial results, confirming it added 7 million Premium subscribers during the quarter. That pushed the total to 300 million, comfortably beating Spotify’s previous guidance and marking a new record for the platform.

The growth wasn’t limited to paying users alone. Spotify finished the quarter with 777 million monthly active users, including listeners on its free ad-supported tier. While that figure narrowly missed the company’s forecast by around one million users, Spotify attributed the shortfall to ongoing product optimizations.

A solid performance and revenue jump

Speaking of financial performance, Spotify generated €4.78 billion in quarterly revenue, representing a 14% year-over-year increase. Subscription revenue climbed 15% to €4.33 billion, while advertising revenue edged up 1% to €446 million.

Profitability also continued improving. Spotify reported €655 million in operating income and a record 33.4% gross margin, both exceeding the company’s own expectations. Net income reached €545 million, a significant turnaround from the €86 million loss reported during the same quarter last year.

The company also used the quarter to introduce several new products. Those included Reserved, giving dedicated fans early access to concert tickets in the United States, alongside Personal Podcasts, an AI-powered feature that creates personalized podcast episodes for listeners.

The company expcets the numbers to grow even further

That being said, Spotify isn’t slowing down. The company expects to reach 305 million Premium subscribers and 788 million monthly active users during the third quarter. It also forecasts quarterly revenue climbing to €5 billion.

Co-CEO Alex Norström said Spotify’s scale now creates opportunities that few companies can match, highlighting how the service has become part of users’ daily routines across commuting, workouts, studying, gaming, meals, and sleep. Meanwhile, co-CEO Gustav Söderström said Spotify remains focused on investing in new technologies and faster product development while building future experiences around AI and user engagement.
