Microsoft Teams is getting a new feature that allows users to decline incoming calls and automatically send a message explaining why they cannot answer.

According to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap (ID 577176), the feature will arrive on Android and iOS in December 2026.

Microsoft Teams adds the option to decline calls with a message

The new functionality will let Teams users reject incoming calls while sending a predefined message directly from the call screen.

Users will be able to choose a response that lets the caller know they are unavailable or that they will call back later.

Currently, users who want to explain why they missed or declined a Teams call must open a separate chat and send a message manually.

The upcoming feature removes that extra step and brings Teams closer to the call-handling options already available in standard Android and iOS phone apps.

When will the new Teams feature arrive?

Microsoft plans to roll out the feature in December 2026 for Microsoft Teams on Android and iOS.

The company has not confirmed whether the functionality will eventually reach the desktop or web versions of Teams.

The feature should make it easier for mobile users to manage incoming calls during meetings or other situations when they cannot answer immediately.

Microsoft is also working on performance improvements, with a new Efficiency Mode that makes Teams up to 20% faster.

Separately, Microsoft is removing Copilot Studio from Teams in 2027, bringing another change to the collaboration platform.
