Microsoft Issues 60-Day Warning for Windows 11, Server 2022, and Windows 10 LTSB

Microsoft’s 60-day end-of-support warning puts Windows 11 24H2, Windows Server 2022, and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 users on notice ahead of October 13, 2026.

Microsoft has issued another support reminder as several Windows products approach major lifecycle deadlines. The latest notice follows the company’s 90-day warning from July.

For Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016, October 13 marks the end of servicing. Windows Server 2022 will reach the end of mainstream support on the same day.

Windows Server 2022 mainstream support ends in October

Windows Server 2022 mainstream support ends October 13, 2026, according to Microsoft’s support documentation.

The deadline applies to the Datacenter, Datacenter Azure Edition, Essentials, and Standard editions. Microsoft recommends moving to Windows Server 2025.

Organizations that continue using Windows Server 2022 will enter extended support, which runs until October 14, 2031. Microsoft will continue providing free monthly security updates during that period.

Companies that want to evaluate the newer operating system can also test Windows Server 2025 using Microsoft’s 180-day evaluation build.

Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro reach end of servicing

Windows 11 version 24H2 Home and Pro will reach end of servicing on October 13, 2026.

After the deadline, Microsoft will stop providing monthly quality and security updates for those editions. Users will need to upgrade to Windows 11 25H2 to remain on a supported version.

Windows 11 24H2 Enterprise and Education editions do not face the October 2026 deadline. Microsoft will support those editions until October 2027.

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 support also ends

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 will also reach its support deadline on October 13, 2026.

Microsoft recommends that organizations migrate to Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024.

Businesses that cannot immediately move away from the older operating system can purchase Extended Security Updates to continue receiving security fixes.

The latest reminder does not introduce a new deadline. Microsoft already warned users last month that Windows 11 24H2 and Windows 10 LTSB 2016 support ends soon, with the same deadlines also listed in its support documents.

Microsoft is also encouraging businesses to modernize other parts of their infrastructure, including moving beyond Active Directory toward Entra ID.
