Microsoft Packs Intune’s August Update With New Autopilot and Security Features

Microsoft Intune’s August update adds Windows Autopilot device association, unattended Remote Help, expanded Apple management, and tighter Microsoft Defender for Endpoint integration.

Microsoft recently recapped the features added to Intune during August, with several changes focused on device onboarding, remote support, and security management.

Windows Autopilot device association is now generally available

Windows Autopilot device association has reached general availability in Microsoft Intune.

The feature lets IT administrators associate devices with their organization’s tenant earlier in the onboarding process, before those devices enroll in Intune.

Microsoft says this approach can help organizations verify devices sooner and ensure that only trusted hardware receives access to corporate resources.

Intune Remote Help gets unattended access

Microsoft has also expanded Intune Remote Help with unattended access.

IT administrators and help desk staff can remotely connect to supported devices without requiring the device user to interact with the session.

The feature should prove particularly useful when support teams need to troubleshoot systems outside normal working hours or when nobody is available at the device.

Microsoft expands Apple device management

Intune now supports App Settings configuration for apps and binaries on macOS 27 and later.

Administrators can manage these components directly through Intune instead of depending on third-party management tools.

Microsoft has also improved device logging for Apple hardware. The additional diagnostic information can help IT teams collect more useful details when opening AppleCare support cases.

Defender for Endpoint management stays inside Intune

Microsoft says organizations can also manage Microsoft Defender for Endpoint at scale without using separate third-party tools.

Intune integrates directly with Defender for Endpoint, giving administrators native controls for managing security configurations across devices.

The integration also helps organizations apply Microsoft’s recommended security baselines more consistently.

Microsoft’s August updates extend beyond Intune. The company also published an overview of the new Excel features added this month, including several Copilot-focused improvements.
