The Witcher 3 Remastered Won’t Wipe Your Progress; Saves, Achievements & Trophies Will Carry Over

The Witcher 3 Remastered just cleared up one huge worry before launch. CD PROJEKT RED has confirmed existing saves, achievements, and trophies will carry over.

Your Witcher 3 progress is staying put

Players can load their current The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt saves directly into the Remastered upgrade. CDPR says they should work without issues. That means Geralt can return to the exact point where your previous adventure stopped. You will not need to abandon an unfinished playthrough for the upgraded version.

There is one small catch. Your skills and settings will be reset because of changes introduced with the upgrade. However, CDPR says you can immediately reallocate your skills after launching the game. Your wider save progress remains intact.

Achievements and trophies are coming with you

The trophy situation is even simpler. Remastered will share achievements and trophies with the current versions of The Witcher 3. That means previously unlocked achievements and trophies will not need to be earned again. This also removes concerns about losing years of completion progress.

The confirmation follows several days of questions from players preparing for the September release. CDPR addressed those concerns through its support channels.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered launches on September 29, 2026. It is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
