CD Projekt Red took the stage of the Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live and confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered releases September 29, 2026. The remastered version is coming with a major upgrade package across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The studio has further confirmed that existing owners on eligible platforms will receive the Remastered version as a free upgrade.

The Witcher 3 is getting a serious refresh

CD Projekt Red says Remastered improves visuals, performance, combat, traversal, movement, and mount handling. The upgrade also brings enhanced Witcher Signs effects and improved monster behaviors. The skill tree is being revamped, while transmogrification gives players more control over their equipment’s appearance.

Photo Mode is also being expanded, with new finishers adding another gameplay touch. CD Projekt Red says there are further improvements beyond those highlighted in its announcement.

The remaster will also release natively on Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time. Pre-orders are already available for that version. As expected, the studio didn’t share any details regarding The Witcher 4, though we know by now that the game is targeting a 2028 release window.

Existing players are getting more before launch

CD Projekt Red says everyone who already owns The Witcher 3 can now access Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost. That gives players a chance to revisit the complete expansion lineup before Remastered arrives. It also makes the September launch more substantial for returning players.

The company also announced a new Battle.net partnership with Blizzard. The new Battle.net version launches on the same September 29 date. Players purchasing the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion there will also receive a special Geralt-inspired Diablo 4 skin.
