Windows 11 23H2 Enterprise and Education Support Ends This November, Microsoft Issues 60-Day Reminder

Microsoft is reminding organizations that Windows 11 version 23H2 Enterprise and Education editions will reach the end of updates on November 10, 2026. After that date, affected devices will stop receiving the regular security and non-security updates that keep Windows protected and supported.

The deadline is important for businesses, schools, and other organizations that still have Windows 11 23H2 deployed across managed PCs. Microsoft is now recommending that eligible devices be moved to a newer supported version of Windows 11 before the deadline.

What happens when Windows 11 23H2 reaches end of support?

The November 2026 Windows security update will be the last update available for the affected Windows 11 23H2 Enterprise and Education editions. After that, Microsoft says these devices will no longer receive monthly security and non-security preview updates featuring protections against the latest security threats.

This does not mean Windows 11 23H2 will suddenly stop working on November 10. Instead, the operating system will continue to run, but remaining on the unsupported version means organizations will no longer receive the normal updates and support associated with that release.

Which Windows 11 versions should you upgrade to?

Microsoft recommends upgrading eligible Windows 11 23H2 Enterprise and Education devices to Windows 11 version 25H2. The company says Windows 11 25H2 Enterprise and Education editions will continue receiving updates until October 11, 2028.

Microsoft’s current supported-version information also lists newer Windows 11 releases, including version 26H1, which has a longer support window for Enterprise and Education devices. However, Microsoft’s specific 60-day reminder for organizations running 23H2 points administrators toward 25H2.

How to check your Windows 11 version?

If you are unsure which version your PC is running, checking it is straightforward. Press Windows + R, type winver, and press Enter. A window will show the installed Windows version and OS build. Organizations can also check Settings > Windows Update to see whether a newer supported version is available.
