Microsoft Teams to Soon Make Meetings More Accessible With Persistent Pop-Out Interpreter Video

Microsoft has been working on bunch of new Teams features, which are scheduled to roll out in the near future. Well, we have also spotted that the company is working on a new accessibility feature for Teams that will let users pop out a sign language interpreter’s video into a separate, resizable window. The window will remain visible even when users switch apps, share content, or change their meeting layout.

Teams makes sign language interpretation easier to follow

The feature is designed primarily to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing users, giving them a more consistent way to keep an interpreter visible throughout a meeting.

According to Microsoft’s AI at Work roadmap, users will be able to pop out the video of a sign language interpreter or any participant into its own window. That window can then be resized and positioned separately from the main Teams meeting.

The interpreter’s video will also persist across multiple monitors and other applications, meaning users will not have to repeatedly return to the Teams meeting or adjust the layout simply to keep the interpreter visible.

Microsoft says the feature is intended to remain available while users are multitasking, sharing content, or changing meeting layouts. That could be useful during presentations, when the main meeting window may otherwise prioritize shared content over participant video. Do note that the feature is scheduled to roll out in December 2026 fir Teams desktop and Mac.

As with most of the AI at Work roadmap entries, the rollout date is still subject to change, as Microsoft 365 roadmap dates can move during development. However, keeping interpreter video independently visible could make Teams meetings considerably easier to follow for users who rely on sign language interpretation.
