Outlook Web to Allow Searching Multiple Mailboxes at Once Starting Next Month

If you use multiple Outlook accounts and find it hard to search multiple mailboxes in order to find that one email, you’d be happy to know that Microsoft is working on a useful feature for people like you. The upcoming Multi Account Search feature will apparently make it easier to find messages without searching each account separately.

Outlook will combine results from multiple mailboxes

Windows Report has spotted a new entry in the official AI at Work Roadmap, in which Microsoft noted that users will be able to search across multiple mailboxes and see the results interwoven in a single ranked list. That means messages from different accounts can appear together based on their relevance to the search.

As I mentioned earlier, it will be a handy feature for people who manage several work accounts, shared mailboxes, or other connected inboxes through Outlook. Rather than switching between mailboxes to find a specific email, you will have one combined set of results to work through.

Microsoft also says users will be able to perform standard mail actions on the messages returned by the search. As of now, Microsoft hasn’t provided a detailed list of those actions yet, but the feature is intended to go beyond simply displaying search results. Microsoft expects the rollout to begin in October 2026 for Outlook on the web.

As with every roadmap entry, Microsoft hasn’t provided an October release date, so the rollout could still change as development continues. Speaking of new Outlook features, let’s not forget that Microsoft is scheduled to roll out meeting transfers and Copilot Chat integration.
