AMD’s next-generation RDNA 5 graphics cards may not release until the second half of 2027, according to recent reports citing hardware leaker Kepler_L2 and expectations from AMD board partners. The timing remains unconfirmed, but it suggests Radeon gamers could face a longer wait for the company’s next major GPU generation.

AMD RDNA 5 could miss an earlier launch window

The latest report comes from Kepler_L2, who said in an AnandTech forum discussion that an RDNA 5 reveal within the next three to five months was unlikely. The leaker reportedly sees Computex 2027 as the earliest opportunity for an announcement, with a later reveal appearing more likely. Earlier reports citing AMD board partners pointed to the second or third quarter of 2027, although some manufacturers reportedly expected retail availability to slip into late 2027 or early 2028.

What could RDNA 5 bring to Radeon GPUs?

AMD has not officially confirmed RDNA 5’s consumer GPU lineup, specifications, pricing, or release schedule. Previous leaks have suggested a range of graphics cards, potentially including a higher-end model with GDDR7 memory and a 384-bit memory interface. These details remain unverified, however.

The delay could also leave AMD’s current RDNA 4 generation on the market for longer. The Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 arrived in March 2025, giving the company an established lineup while enthusiasts wait for its next architectural update.

AMD and Nvidia could face a similar wait

NVIDIA’s next consumer graphics cards are also rumored to arrive around late 2027 or 2028. If both companies follow those timelines, the next major GPU upgrade cycle could take longer than some PC gamers anticipated. For now, AMD’s plans remain unclear, and the latest rumor concerns the possible announcement window rather than a confirmed retail launch.
