New Windows 11 Experimental Build Adds Automatic Screen Brightness for Windows Hello, Web Sign-in for Hybrid Devices, and More

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26340.9750 is out in the Experimental channel

In addition to Windows 11 Beta Build 26220.9739 and Beta 26H1 Build 28020.3262, Microsoft has released another build for those in the Experimental Channel. Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26340.9750 brings a refreshed Xbox gaming experience, passwordless sign-in improvements, and several fixes for everyday Windows features.

Windows 11 Experimental build improves Xbox gaming and sign-in

The highlight of this build is a refreshed Gaming Task View experience in Xbox mode. Microsoft is adding a new navigation bar with quick access to Exit to Desktop and Power Options, making essential system controls easier to reach while gaming.

Microsoft is also expanding web sign-in support to Microsoft Entra hybrid-joined devices. Users can sign in from the lock screen using a FIDO2 security key, a phone passkey, or a Temporary Access Pass without entering a password. That’s not all; Windows Hello facial recognition is getting another useful improvement. Windows 11 can temporarily brighten the display in dark environments to help users sign in. You can enable the feature under Settings, Accounts, and Sign-in options.

File Explorer and Windows Search get fixes

Microsoft has improved File Explorer folder responsiveness, helping views update and sort correctly when files or folders are added or renamed. Windows Search is also receiving a fix for issues that could make it disappear or stop working after the previous update. Microsoft specifically mentions problems that could occur when users rapidly clicked the Search icon repeatedly.

The updated Run dialog also receives several fixes. Microsoft has improved its positioning for Arabic and Hebrew display languages, navigation performance in very large folders, and an issue that could make typed text disappear when entering commands too quickly.

Microsoft further notes that the Experimental Build 26340.9750 improves shutdown reliability, reducing the likelihood of shutdown hangs in certain situations. Dialogs for system messages, including low-battery warnings and permission prompts, should also return to their expected modern design.
