Latest Windows 11 Beta (26H1) Build Fixes App & Game Crashes Caused by an Issue With msmpeg2ac3dec.dl

Windows 11 gaming features

Microsoft has released another Windows 11 Insider Beta update that fixes an issue that recently caused some apps and games to crash. Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28020.3262 is available to those in the Beta Channel for version 26H1.

Windows 11 Beta 26H1 update fixes app and game crashes

The main highlight of this release is a fix for an issue involving msmpeg2ac3dec.dll. Microsoft says the problem was causing some applications and games to crash recently. The company has not provided further details about the affected applications or games. It also hasn’t listed specific titles that were experiencing the crashes.

The update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes intended to improve the overall experience for Windows Insiders running this build.

In addition to game crash fix, Microsoft is also improving Family Safety messaging when applications are blocked because of age-restricted parental controls. The change should make these situations clearer for affected users.

However, this release appears relatively small compared to Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.9739, which introduces a refreshed Gaming Task View experience in Xbox mode, with a new navigation bar offering quick access to Exit to Desktop and Power Options. The Beta Build 26220.9739 also adds independent Magnifier zoom levels for multiple displays, viewport locking, and improved File Explorer search results.
