World of Warcraft Could Finally Come to Xbox, Blizzard Suggests

Blizzard Entertainment has hinted that World of Warcraft could eventually arrive on Xbox consoles, although the company has not confirmed a console release.

The speculation follows the introduction of native Xbox controller support in World of Warcraft: Forever, alongside compatibility with Xbox Ally handhelds. These improvements have renewed hopes for a World of Warcraft Xbox version.

Blizzard wants World of Warcraft playable on more devices

In an interview with GamesRadar+, Blizzard Vice President Holly Longdale discussed the company’s plans to make World of Warcraft accessible across more devices.

Longdale explained that improving controller support represents an important first step toward expanding the MMORPG beyond traditional PC setups.

The company sees World of Warcraft: Forever as an opportunity to improve gamepad compatibility while making the experience more accessible to players who prefer controllers over keyboards and mice.

Xbox Project Helix could open the door for World of Warcraft

During the interview, Longdale specifically mentioned Xbox Project Helix, Microsoft’s upcoming console project, and the ASUS ROG Ally X, which already allows players to run World of Warcraft.

She also expressed Blizzard’s long-term ambition to let players enjoy World of Warcraft wherever they want, regardless of their preferred hardware.

Her comments suggest Blizzard remains interested in expanding the game’s reach as gaming platforms become more interconnected.

However, Blizzard has not announced an Xbox console version of World of Warcraft, nor has it confirmed a release window or Xbox Play Anywhere support.

For now, native controller support and handheld compatibility represent the clearest steps toward bringing World of Warcraft to more devices.
