CrowdStrike has a new way to stop AI agents from going rogue, and it puts humans back in control. The cybersecurity company unveiled its AI Kill Switch at Fal.Con Europe 2026. It lets enterprise security teams terminate misbehaving agents, prevent restarts, and cut off network access.

AI agents are becoming increasingly capable, but that also creates a serious security concern. These agents can access enterprise systems, interact with applications, and execute multiple actions without constant human supervision. Things can get messy when an agent moves beyond its intended behavior. Interestingly, CrowdStrike says this can happen without an active cyberattack. An agent might simply take actions that nobody authorized.

The new AI Kill Switch addresses this problem through Falcon Guardian. Security administrators can stop an agent where it runs, rather than simply waiting for an investigation. There are four key capabilities behind the feature. The Falcon sensor can stop a running agent at the gateway today. Endpoint-level termination is coming soon, according to CrowdStrike.

Administrators can also block agents from launching again on selected hosts or host groups. They can remove the agent’s enterprise network access as well. Every action requires authorized human intervention and gets recorded in an audit trail.

Falcon Guardian gets another important safety layer

CrowdStrike says the AI Kill Switch builds on Falcon Guardian’s existing agent discovery, policy enforcement, and threat detection capabilities. The goal is to give security teams a final decision when an agent behaves unexpectedly. Everpure CISO Rick Orloff also welcomed the development. He said the feature gives security teams greater confidence to approve more AI agents across their organization.

That said, the endpoint termination capability is not fully available yet. CrowdStrike says it will arrive soon, while gateway-level termination is already supported. With businesses increasingly deploying autonomous AI agents, controlling their actions could become just as important as improving their capabilities.
