The eagerly awaited Surface Phone is Microsoft’s last hope to finally hit it big on the phone market. After the absolute failures from recent years and the wise decision to sell the Nokia brand, Microsoft is now betting everything it has on the upcoming Surface Phone.
The tech giant has not yet provided any information about the release date of its Surface Phone. However, rumors suggest that the phone could be released in July 2017, after the Redstone 2 update. This update is expected to bring some long awaited features and improvements to the platform. This is not a long time to wait, which means that the Surface Phone design phase is already in its advanced stages.
Leaked documents also suggest that Microsoft’s last beacon of hope could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor, the latest in the Snapdragon line. This processor supports up to 8GB of RAM. As Microsoft is pushing to get Continuum accepted by the masses and is planning to have a 64-bit version of Windows 10 Mobile in the near future, this processor could be an important element in its plan.
The team currently working on the Surface Phone is the same team that built the successful Surface devices. It appears that three Surface Phone models will be available next year, not just one. The consumer edition phones could be equipped with a display of about 5 inches in dimension while the pro version could offer a 6-inch or even 7-inch display.
Taking into account the team’s experience and design tendencies, it is possible that the Surface Phone will bring a strong, solid metallic design. Users expect Microsoft to incorporate a large battery in its Surface Phone to avoid the battery issues that plague other Surface devices. This is one legacy users don’t want to hear about.

The camera should be HD compatible which is a very useful feature, especially for the Pro versions. The Surface phone will definitely come with Windows 10 installed, with possible productivity apps for the Pro version.
As far as the price tag is concerned, it should be pretty high since Microsoft is aiming to create a powerhouse. Since the Lumia 950 XL now costs $649.00, Surface Phone’s price tag could range from $700 to $1000 or more.
