Windows 10 build 19008 issues

Fast Ring Insiders can now download Windows 10 build 19008 on their computers. This release is all about fixing some of the most annoying bugs affecting previous builds. So, for the time being, there are no new features in sight.

Despite Microsoft’s good intentions, quite a few bugs went under the radar and are now breaking Insiders‘ PCs.

As usual, Windows Report takes you on a quick bug tour so that you know what to expect if terms of issues and errors. Let’s dive right in.

Windows 10 build 19008 reported bugs

Download won’t start or complete

Many Insiders are still struggling to install the latest Windows 10 20H1 build. For most users, the download process gets stuck after a while or it doesn’t start at all.

I’ve been sitting at 9% for the last 30 min.
Make that 9% @ 60 min. (Disk, Network and RAM zero usage, CPU at steady 60%). I prefer “Getting Things Ready”.

Other Insiders even got error code 0x80240fff on their screen. If you’re experiencing the same issues, do check out this troubleshooting guide to learn what you can do in order to get rid of this error code.

Fullscreen video doesn’t work

Don’t be surprised if you can’t play videos in full screen mode. This is a common DirectX and  3D Mode problem.

DirectX fullscreen bug is still present in this build … 3D mode is very very bad (performance)

Apart from these bugs, Microsoft acknowledged a series of other issues that may affect Bluetooth devices, dark mode settings or drivers. For more information, do check out Microsoft’s official blog post.
