[UPDATE: April 13, 19:00 IST] Xbox has officially confirmed a new digital showcase focused on Metro 2039. You can read all about it in our separate coverage here.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Earlier today, citing multiple reports, we reported that Sony is considering some big announcements in multiple State of Play showcases. If reports are true, one of those State of Play showcases might be held on April 16th, focusing on AAA third-party titles. Meanwhile, another State of Play showcase is reportedly planned for late May or early June.

Next “little” Xbox showcase reportedly planned for April 16th

Well, if you are an Xbox fan, there is some news for you too. According to multiple reports online, an Xbox showcase is reportedly scheduled for later this week, where you can expect a Metro 2039 reveal. Notably, the show won’t be big, rather a small, focused presentation.

In a recent live session on YouTube channel Septic Sauce (timestamped below), Windows Central executive editor and gaming insider Jez Corden said that “There might be something Xbox fans might want to tune into as well, maybe. […] But Xbox might have a little something next week as well. […] A little show.” Replying to that claim, popular tipster NateTheHate2 on X replied, “The Microsoft show will broadcast on April 16th & is the venue of choice for the Metro 2039 reveal. I don’t know the branding of the show.”

As mentioned above, the next Xbox showcase will reveal Metro 2039, the next entry in the long-running post-apocalyptic shooter series from 4A Games. As of now, there is no official word from Microsoft regarding the rumored Xbox showcase. However, a tweet from The Verge’s Tom Warren (now deleted) spotted by TrueAchievements suggest that it might be ID@Xbox-focused, which fits the profile of third-party and partner announcements.

If both Xbox and PlayStation do go live this week, which showcase will actually deliver the bigger surprise? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
