PlayStation Reportedly Planning Several Big Announcements in the Coming Months

The rumored April 16th State of Play could be followed by another showcase

In the past few months, there have been plenty of developments across the Xbox ecosystem. But that can’t be said about Sony’s PlayStation. However, if rumors are accurate, the next few months will be big for PlayStation. According to multiple reports and rumors online, Sony could be preparing multiple State of Play events ahead of its usual summer window.

PlayStation State of Play rumors point to a packed schedule

Per the online rumors, Sony could host a State of Play as early as mid-April (April 16), with additional showcases expected in late May or early June (via Screen Rant). Although the details are unclear at this point, the timing lines up with Sony’s usual summer presentation cycle. The rumored April showcase is said to focus more on third-party AAA titles.

In other words, you could expect updates on games that have already been announced but have not received major gameplay reveals yet. At the same time, expectations around Marvel’s Wolverine have been at an all-time high, especially after Insomanic Games hinted that more details would be released in Spring 2026.

If that rumor holds true, a dedicated deep dive for Wolverine may happen separately or as part of a larger event. Other titles that are being linked to upcoming showcases include projects like Judas, Control follow-ups, and even older rumors like an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake are resurfacing again after Ubisoft recently confirmed it.

Notably, some rumors also point at surprise releases. Recent showcases have included shadow drops, and that trend may continue if multiple events are planned. While nothing is confirmed, the idea of smaller or mid-sized titles launching right after announcements is reportedly on the cards.

With PS5 prices going up again, Sony is likely to make a bunch of big announcements that can keep players hooked to the ecosystem even after paying an increased price.
