AMD Breaks Historic 40% Server Milestone as CPU Revenue Soars

AMD has posted strong financial results alongside new CPU market share data. The company has now crossed a major milestone in the server market.

According to data based on figures from Mercury Research and highlighted by VideoCardz, Advanced Micro Devices reached 41.3% server CPU revenue share in Q4 2025. This marks the first time AMD’s server revenue share has exceeded the 40% threshold in the tracked dataset.

AMD Breaks 40% Server Revenue Share Barrier

According to reports for Q4 2025, AMD captured a 41.3% share of server CPU revenue and a 28.8% share of server CPU unit shipments.

Server unit share increased by 1.0 percentage point quarter-over-quarter and 3.1 points year-over-year. Revenue share grew even faster, climbing 1.8 points quarter-over-quarter and 4.9 points year-over-year.

The wider gap between revenue share and unit share suggests AMD continues to sell higher-priced server products, likely driven by strong demand for EPYC processors in data center environments.

Desktop and Mobile CPU Gains Continue

AMD also posted solid results across client segments. In the desktop segment, AMD achieved a 36.4% unit share and a 42.6% revenue share, while in the mobile market, it recorded a 26.0% unit share and a 24.9% revenue share.

Mobile unit share rose 4.1 percentage points quarter-over-quarter, showing notable momentum in laptops and notebooks.

Combined client CPU share reached 29.2% unit share and 31.2% revenue share.

Total x86 CPU Share Shows Revenue Strength

Across the overall x86 CPU market, AMD reported a 29.2% unit share and a 35.4% revenue share.

Total x86 revenue share increased by 2.9 percentage points quarter-over-quarter and 6.8 points year-over-year.

Revenue share figures are calculated by AMD using Mercury Research data. The consistent trend of higher revenue share versus unit share points to a premium product mix strategy, particularly in server and high-end desktop segments.

The latest figures highlight intensifying competition in the x86 CPU space. With AMD expanding both unit and revenue share across server, desktop, and mobile markets, industry observers suggest Intel will need strong upcoming product launches to regain momentum, especially in mobile and mainstream desktop categories.

In related developments, AMD recently bundled Crimson Desert with Ryzen 9000 CPUs and Radeon RX 9070 GPUs. The company also released a new AMD Adrenalin graphics driver, continuing its push across both CPU and GPU segments.
