AMD Launches Ryzen 5 5500X3D in China, Bringing Budget 3D V-Cache Gaming Power
AMD is quietly breathing new life into AM4, and this time, it’s doing so in China. According to X user, @realVictor_M, the Ryzen 5 5500X3D has officially made its way to Chinese retail shelves, expanding beyond its earlier limited launch in Latin America (via Wccftech).
At its core, this is a Zen 3 processor features a 6-core, 12-thread configuration. However, what makes it stand out is AMD’s 3D V-Cache tech. The Ryzen 5 5500X3D packs a massive 96 MB of L3 cache (32 MB + 64 MB stacked), giving it a serious advantage in gaming compared to the standard Ryzen 5 5500, which only carries 16 MB of L3 cache. In total, the chip offers 99 MB of combined L2 + L3 cache.

Clock speeds are modest, with a 3.0 GHz base and up to 4.0 GHz boost. It also carries a 105W TDP. On paper, it sits below the Ryzen 5 5600X3D due to lower clock speed, but it keeps the same cache-heavy DNA that makes X3D chips strong in gaming workloads.
While pricing hasn’t been officially confirmed, earlier listings hinted at a sub-$200 price tag. If that holds true, the 5500X3D could compete with parts like the Ryzen 5 7600X, 9600X, and even Intel’s Core Ultra 5 series in gaming scenarios, especially in titles that love large cache.
In multi-threaded workloads, it outpaces its non-X3D sibling. In gaming, it could punch far above its weight, sometimes trading blows with newer Ryzen 7000 and even select 9000-series chips. For budget gamers still on AM4, this launch makes upgrading easier than ever, even if AMD has already retired higher-end X3D options like the 5800X3D.
