AMD rolls out new Windows 11/10 chipset drivers for Ryzen 9000 and older series

amd chipset update released

AMD has released a new chipset driver package for Ryzen platforms. The AMD Ryzen Chipset Driver 8.02.18.557 update is now available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit systems (via Neowin). The latest driver update fixes bugs and brings support updates across a wide range of Ryzen desktop, mobile, and Threadripper platforms.

AMD notes that the update includes fixes related to the AMS Mailbox driver and the S0i3 filter driver, which are part of the power and system management stack on Ryzen platforms. The package continues AMD’s support for a wide list of chipsets, ranging from older platforms like X370, B350, and A320 to newer ones, including X870E, X870, B850, and B840. Compatibility extends across multiple processor generations, including Ryzen 9000, Ryzen 8000G, Ryzen 7000, and several Threadripper families.

However, AMD lists a few known issues. Users installing version 7.xx.xx.xx of the chipset installer can’t directly downgrade to version 6.xx.xx.xx or earlier. The workaround involves uninstalling the newer package and deleting the Qt_Dependencies folder before installing an older release. AMD also notes that some driver names may appear in English on non-English operating systems.

AMD, in its support article, mentions that the Ryzen Chipset Driver package includes several individual drivers designed to support Microsoft Windows platforms. Operating system compatibility may vary depending on the specific AMD hardware in use.
