AMD may be preparing another update to its FidelityFX Super Resolution technology after a new file was spotted on the company’s public download infrastructure.

According to VideoCardz, Reddit users discovered a new version of the amdxcffx64.dll file hosted on AMD’s servers. The file reportedly carries version 2.2.0.1328, which appears to be newer than a previously leaked build numbered 2.1.0.968.

The discovery suggests that AMD is actively updating internal components related to its upscaling technology, although the company has not officially announced a new release.

Updated files appear on AMD servers

AMD’s download infrastructure shows recent activity around the DLL file, indicating that the component may have been updated around March 11, 2026.

Reports claim that the directory listing currently contains two versions of the file, one dated March 2 and sized at 13.8 MB, and another dated March 12 with a larger size of 16.8 MB.

The presence of a larger and newer build suggests that AMD may be continuing development work behind the scenes, but it does not confirm that a public release is imminent.

AMD has not released any official documentation, changelogs, or release notes indicating that a new version of FSR is ready for launch.

Current drivers and FSR preview support

At the moment, the latest recommended driver for the Radeon RX 9070 XT remains Adrenalin 26.2.2, which was released on February 26, 2026.

AMD previously introduced FSR “Redstone” support with the Adrenalin 25.12.1 driver, bringing early access to the next generation of the technology through a technical preview.

The current FSR 4 Technical Preview supports GPUs such as Radeon RX 9070, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and Radeon RX 9060 XT.

However, the technology currently works in only a single game, which has limited its visibility and wider adoption so far.

Crimson Desert may showcase future FSR improvements

One upcoming title that could highlight the next version of FSR is Crimson Desert, which is scheduled to launch on March 19, 2026.

Developer Pearl Abyss confirmed that the PC version of the game will support FSR 3, FSR 4, and AMD’s Ray Regeneration technology.

AMD is already highlighting Crimson Desert on its featured games page, suggesting the title could play an important role in showcasing its latest graphics technologies. Developers have also recently shared the game’s system requirements and performance specifications, so make sure that you can run the game.
