Windows 11 Experimental Build Expands Memory Integrity Protection and More

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Experimental Preview Build 26340.9482 with several improvements related to security, usability, and system reliability.

Memory Integrity expands to more Windows 11 PCs

Microsoft is gradually expanding Memory Integrity protection to more eligible devices. On supported PCs, Windows may automatically enable HVCI during updates to strengthen security and prepare systems for future Windows security features, while still respecting existing user and administrator settings.

The update also improves the context menu with a new first-time teaching tip and gives users the option to disable the Customize context menu entry. Microsoft has also fixed issues affecting the Send To option.

File Explorer search gets faster

Search from This PC in File Explorer is now indexer-based, which should make searches faster and more consistent with searches from File Explorer Home. Microsoft has also improved the scaling of the IME icon when using smaller taskbar icons. Another noticeable change affects screen capture, with the active capture border changing from yellow to red to make recording or capture sessions easier to identify.

The build also includes several Settings fixes, including improvements to the Temporary files page, mouse cursor customization, and desktop background customization. Microsoft has additionally fixed an issue that could cause brightness controls to become unexpectedly grayed out.

Last but not least, the company has also released Beta Preview Build 26220.947, Beta (26H1) Preview Build 28020.2991, and 26H1 Release Preview Build 28000.3079 today.
