Ryzen 9000 series

AMD is gearing up for the launch of a new AM5 processor for gamers out there. The processor in question is the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, which folks at VideoCardz suggest will be a near-flagship offering from the company. The processor is reportedly similar to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in terms of specs, but with slightly higher clock speeds. At the CES 2026, AMD called the fastest gaming processor.

The AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D series proc launch is just around the corner

The news outlet, in its report, references Micro Center, which mentions that AMD is positioning the Ryzen 7 9850X3D as a small upgrade over the 9800X3D. For those unaware, Micro Center is a popular American retail chain specializing in computers, electronics, and technology. According to the retailer, AMD is claiming around a 3% overall performance bump, with improvements of up to 8% in Counter-Strike 2. That lines up with AMD’s recent focus on esports-friendly improvements.

The processor is confirmed to be available in stores on January 28. That’s interesting because, at CES 2026, AMD confirmed that the systems featuring this chip would be widely available in Q1 2026. So, the question is: are any of the companies adding this chip, and which would it be?
