Arc Raiders Name Briefly Blocked in Marathon Chat, Bug Now Fixed by Bungie
Ever since Arc Raiders released, it has been praised as one of the finest extraction shooters to exist, all thanks to fast-paced gameplay and regular content updates. However, Bungie’s upcoming Marathon is already upping the ante, taking on the rival with a mix of high-stakes competition and strict anti-cheat policies. At a time when players are comparing both games, early tests for Marathon have already stirred attention.
Marathon tests servers hit with unexpected chat bug
During a recent server slam test ahead of its March launch, Marathon experienced an interesting bug. Per the reports, Marathon players trying to type “Arc Raiders” in chat were met with automatic censorship, appearing as “*** *******” Apparently, this wasn’t intentional and a genuine bug, which is why Bungie has fixed it. Replying a post on X, the studio posted a screenshot to confirm that chat now works fine. That said, the issue briefly highlighted just how closely these two extraction shooters are being watched by their communities.
Not to forget, the rivalry between Embark Studios and Bungie goes beyond. Bungie s a zero-tolerance policy, doling out lifetime bans for cheaters. That said, the bigger test will come post-launch. Marathon is expected to draw some players from Arc Raiders, but keeping them engaged will hinge on content drops and updates. At a time when extraction shooters are defining the multiplayer landscape, early bugs and policy differences could help players decide in which title they should spend their time on.
Speaking of games, let’s not forget that Capcom has released day one patch for Resident Evil Requiem on Switch 2.
