Microsoft has come up with a new AI, and this time the Redmond-based tech giant found a way to build an AI capable of building applications that use AI to solve tasks. This one is called AutoGen AI, and it is a model that is capable of designing and developing applications that use LLM (large language models) as part of their framework.
Just think about ChatGPT, Bing Chat, Bard and so many others. These applications are based on LLMs to solve any kind of task that you might ask of it. AutoGen AI builds these kinds of apps using AI agents that can communicate with each other.
In shorter and more basic terms: an AI uses AI to build apps that use AI to offer solutions. And while AutoGen can do it by itself, the model also communicates with humans and integrates their input to build even more effective apps.
The research, which was funded by Microsoft states that these so-called AutoGen agents are also highly customizable, meaning that you can easily build the app that you want with it.
This technical report presents AutoGen, a new framework that enables development of LLM applications using multiple agents that can converse with each other to solve tasks. AutoGen agents are customizable, conversable, and seamlessly allow human participation. They can operate in various modes that employ combinations of LLMs, human inputs, and tools.
AutoGen AI employs AIs to build apps that use AI
We know how this sounds, but it’s for this exact reason that AutoGen AI is a breakthrough when it comes to AI technology.
Basically, AutoGen AI employs various AI models, that have different personalities, to build a fully functional app capable of delivering the bits of every one of the AI models that worked on it.
And, AutoGen AI also makes sure that the app has a human touch to it, and it will ask for it when it’s needed. This way, the model can be used to create and develop various apps, from math apps to gaming apps, to entertainment, coding, quizzes, you name it.
The model is also capable of understanding AI’s own shortcomings, and it will find ways to avoid mistakes that are regularly made by LLMs.
For now, it’s not clear when and if Microsoft plans to release AutoGen AI to the world, but the model is certainly a big step when it comes to AI research.
