Blizzard’s “Overwatch” Xbox Controllers Aren’t What They Seem

Blizzard appears to be promoting what it calls the new Overwatch-themed Xbox controllers. However, a closer look at them suggests that they may not be as exclusive as they sound.

As spotted by folks at TrueAchievements, the promotional link shared on X redirects users toward two Xbox Design Lab configurations inspired by Overwatch’s in-game teams.

One mirrors Overwatch’s signature blue, white, and orange palette, while the other focuses on Talon’s darker red, black, and white tones, complete with a transparent “Pulse Cipher” pattern. Blizzard’s wording describes them as “inspired” by Overwatch and Talon. However, the news outlet says that these are standard Xbox Design Lab controllers with specific color combinations. Take a look below:

Besides that, they do not feature official Overwatch or Talon logos, custom engravings, or unique branding elements that would clearly mark them as special editions. So, it’s safe to say that these Overwatch controllers aren’t part of a full-fledged collaboration.

By full-fledged collaboration, we mean something like Xbox’s Fallout Pip-Boy controllers or the Marathon-themed DualSense PS5 controller that Sony launched last month. But given that Microsoft owns Blizzard, expectations for a fully branded Overwatch controller were arguably higher.

We hope fans can get something in the near future that they might truly call limited-edition, not just a product out of Xbox Design Lab.
