Bluesky goes down in latest "minor" outage, an investigation is underway
If Bluesky isn’t working for you right now, it’s not just you. The microblogging platform has gone down in its latest outage, with Bluesky confirming that it is investigating an issue causing the site to sometimes fail to load.
According to Bluesky’s status page, the incident was marked as “Site Downtime” and has been under investigation since September 28, 2026, 05:32 PM UTC. The company says it has already identified the cause and is working to restore normal service.
Bluesky users may experience app and website issues
The current incident appears to be affecting access to Bluesky itself, meaning users may run into problems when trying to open the website or use the platform normally.
Bluesky has not yet provided a detailed explanation of what caused the outage or given an estimated time for a full resolution. The status page currently lists the incident as Investigating.
This is also not the first Bluesky outage this month. The platform experienced another site outage on September 23, which was resolved after roughly an hour, according to outage-history data based on Bluesky’s status page.
For anyone suddenly wondering whether their phone, browser or internet connection is responsible, there is a good chance the current problem is on Bluesky’s side if the service is failing for multiple users.
What should you do if Bluesky isn’t working?
There isn’t much to fix locally while Bluesky is investigating a server-side issue. You can try refreshing the website, restarting the app or checking your connection, but repeatedly reinstalling the app probably won’t help if the outage is affecting Bluesky’s servers.
