HI . I have a Windows 8.1 . I am The admin of the system. There is also an other admin account. I saw that in that admin account it lets you adjust the option for brightness in the charms bar, but actually does not change the Brightness . In my account it’s a different story . It says Unavailable for the Brightness option and when i move my cursor on it , it says that Windows cant adjust the Brightness on this screen.
The Following is a screenshot of my account . Please help me . Regards .

and I just tried the other option and it sends me to the unavailable brightness setting screen in which it to is still unavailable, I like the look of windows 8.1 but I think I am going to go back to 7 Ultimate until Microsucks fix their product, I really do wish I could get a refund I have had nothing but problems since I installed 8, wifi connection going in and out, games not working, it took out “broke” my key board and mouse on my laptop and my right speaker on both computers, and the only thing the support people who can’t speak roper understandable English can say is we are sorry, they are absolutlly right MICROSUCKS IS SORRY AS HELL!

I have a Gateway zx4931 ever since I updated to 8.1 brightness has been unavailable I tried the suggestion above from control panel and it says brightness is set to on even tho it is actually not !

I followed the instructions and after I reached:
‘Expand Display
Expand Enable adaptive brightness’
– the settings were already ‘ON’ so I switched it off and applied, then switched on and applied.

That didn’t seem to work, so I selected to restore to default settings. At first it didn’t seem to work but after a few seconds all of a sudden the brightness was working. Also my Sleep option for my laptop hadnt been working on the shutdown menu – this also worked after restoring! 🙂

You must be a Micro suck employee on here lying for them or what cause I did all you just said and none it works this software is trash !

Hi – I have a sony vaio and when I tried to install the latest nvidea drivers, it said I could not due to different specs / hardware – my current driver is nVidea GEForce 330 – yet i cannot upgrade it and sony seems to have done something custom from which you can only update the driver from their site downloads. My model number is VPCL138FX – any suggestions would be great. I tried all the rest of the solutions and nothing so far

Hey there brother, I’ve tried everything – attempted to update the graphic driver, followed a plethora of guides, and yet, no fix.
