Just as Call of Duty fans were processing the Modern Warfare 4 reveal, another rumor has surfaced online. Two of the most beloved entries in the franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, have reportedly appeared on South Korea’s ratings board. The listings popped up without any announcement from Activision or XBOX, which is why longtime Call of Duty fans are paying attention to them.

Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 just popped up again

Unfortunately, the new ratings don’t reveal much on their own. There are no platform details, no release windows, and no mention of visual upgrades or additional content. All that’s currently known is that both titles were recently rated in South Korea, which naturally opens door to speculation about why Activision would revisit games that originally launched more than a decade ago.

One possibility is that Microsoft could be preparing the games for Xbox Game Pass. Since completing its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft has been gradually bringing older Call of Duty titles into its ecosystem. Black Ops and Black Ops 2 remain two of the most requested entries among fans who want easier access to the classic campaigns and multiplayer experiences.

Then there’s the remaster theory. Rumors about Black Ops remasters have surfaced multiple times over the years, although none have ever materialized. While the Korean ratings don’t confirm anything, the timing has certainly added fuel to the conversation.

Whether this turns out to be a Game Pass addition, a re-release, or something entirely different, fans now have one more reason to keep an eye on Activision and XBOX in the weeks ahead.
