ChatGPT Ads Officially Launched in the UK, Japan, Brazil, Mexico & South Korea
ChatGPT Ads are expanding to another five markets, marking OpenAI’s biggest international expansion of the ad test so far.
OpenAI is turning ChatGPT into a bigger advertising platform
The company confirmed the ad rollout on August 11 in the UK, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and South Korea. In May, OpenAI said that it would expand ad pilot to the aforementioned countries.
The expansion comes after months of testing in the United States, followed by rollout in April across Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The latest move follows OpenAI’s original decision to test ads with logged-in adult users on its Free and Go plans. OpenAI later opened its advertising business to companies, while reportedly bringing experienced advertising executives into the operation.
The expansion also follows the partnership with advertisers such as Fever. OpenAI said those ads would remain clearly labeled and separate from ChatGPT’s generated responses. OpenAI’s latest update also matters because the company previously pushed back against speculation about an immediate worldwide rollout.
All this while, OpenAI has maintained that ads should not influence ChatGPT’s answers. However, if you are still skeptical about ads, you can always avoid it. The company has further mentioned that it’ll continue “to expand to more markets this year.”
