ChatGPT is Down Right Now, Website Throws 'Error 404 Page Not Found'
Right NowChatGPT is down in yet another outage today. A few minutes back r/ChatGPT subreddit was filled with multiple posts where users claimed seeing error 404 page not found message when accessing the official ChatGPT website. Users have also reported login issues and chat session disappearing suddenly. At the time of writing this, OpenAI has acknowledged the incident in its server status page, noting “Elevated errors across ChatGPT and Codex.”

In the official status page update, OpenAI notes that it has applied mitigation while monitoring recovery across the affected services. The outage appears broader than simple failed prompts, based on reports shared during the incident.
Several users reported seeing a “404 Error” or “Page Not Found” message. Others saw “trouble loading your account” warnings when opening ChatGPT or sending messages. The issue also appears to vary by platform and browser. One user reported ChatGPT working on mobile, while Brave and the Windows app failed.
Downdetector spike puts the outage into perspective
Downdetector recorded 38,195 reports at 8:26 PM IST, against a baseline of just 13 reports. At 8:51 PM IST, reports stood just over 5000, with the baseline around 14. The sharp drop in user reports suggests recovery may have started.
For now, OpenAI has acknowledged elevated errors and says mitigation is underway.
