ChatGPT Just Got a Killer Custom Sticker Feature for iMessage & WhatsApp Users

ChatGPT just picked up a feature that could make custom stickers much easier to create. OpenAI now lets users turn photos, ideas, and inside jokes into stickers, then send them directly to iMessage or WhatsApp.

ChatGPT turns ordinary photos into custom stickers

The announcement was made via a post on X yesterday, in which the company confirmed that the new feature lives inside ChatGPT’s Images section. Users can select Stickers, upload one or multiple images, and describe what they want. Just to be clear, folks at Android Authority first spotted this feature earlier this month, and now it’s finally out for the public.

ChatGPT can turn individual photos into stickers or remix several images into a custom pack. Users can also add or remove elements during the process. There is also support for transparent backgrounds. That makes the generated images better suited to messaging apps instead of looking like ordinary rectangular photos.

Users can borrow a visual style from another image. Alternatively, they can simply describe the style they want through a prompt.

iMessage and WhatsApp sharing is built in

Once the sticker is ready, users can tap “Add to chat apps” to export it. The available options currently include iMessage, WhatsApp, and Save to Photos. WhatsApp comes with one notable catch. Users need at least three stickers when exporting a pack, and that requirement comes from Meta rather than OpenAI.

For iMessage, exported stickers appear inside a dedicated ChatGPT section within the Messages sticker carousel. That removes another step from the usual sticker-making process.

The feature also appears useful for quick edits. Not to forget, a simple sticker prompt can also help generate a transparent asset and even restore cropped parts of the subject.
