Is City: Skylines II lagging? New patch could be a sign of relief

With its improved traffic AI and new features, City: Skylines II is the most realistic city-building game, which inspires you to be creative.

However, issues like lagging, blurry graphics, poor frame rates, and intensive use of processing power spoil the gaming experience. The players anticipate that the next patch, 1.19.0, will resolve them.

In a recent announcement on Steam, the development team at Colossal Order shared that they have a list of reported issues from players, QA, & their team, and assured that they have sorted the issues based on severity and implementation time, will roll the fixes according to time & resource availability.

Since the game’s release in October 2023, the developers have been releasing patches to fix the issues, and the upcoming patch 1.19.0 is no different. However, it is said to be the last stand-alone bug-fixing patch, and going forward, the update will be a combo of introduction of modding support & bug fixes.

As just like its predecessor, the developers’ aim is to enhance the base game for all players through free updates associated with the DLC releases.

Here are the improvements you can expect in the latest patch:

  • Land value will now be affected by ground pollution but will not decrease to zero even with heavily polluted land and will increase as per the profitability value of the industrial company.
  • Addressed challenges faced by drivers in big cities and improved the search algorithm for parking spaces.
  • Optimized Shadow Culling and Pathfind Scheduling for more stable simulation speed in larger cities.
  • Addresses issues related to the statistics panel.
  • Fixes random crashes like when selecting moving in household
  • Added cooldown to stop too many queries on citizens seeking education and some missing text & translations.

The City: Skylines II players are eagerly waiting for the latest patch, and the announcement on Steam suggests that Colossal Order’s work is far from over, and you can expect the introduction of new features along with improvements in the upcoming releases.
