Copilot Podcasts Is Shutting Down With No Export Option

What is Copilot Podcasts?

Copilot Podcasts creates AI-generated audio discussions based on suggested topics. Synthetic hosts discuss and explain a selected subject in a conversational podcast format.

Users can play generated episodes directly inside Microsoft Copilot. The feature currently works through Copilot on the web, iOS, and Android.

Existing Copilot Podcasts will disappear

After August 18, users will lose access to every podcast created with the feature. The retirement affects all users who previously generated or saved episodes through Copilot.

Microsoft does not allow users to download audio files or export their podcast libraries. Users can only share links to generated episodes, so they cannot create permanent local copies before Microsoft shuts down the service.

Once Microsoft disables Copilot Podcasts, shared links and previously generated episodes will effectively disappear.

Shutdown raises digital ownership concerns

The decision highlights concerns surrounding cloud-based digital content and AI services that do not offer local storage options.

Users may spend time generating personalized content but retain little control over it when the platform limits access to a single online service. Without downloads or exports, Microsoft controls how long users can access their generated episodes.

Microsoft continues changing Copilot features
