Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 Massive Discounts Were an “Error,” but Buyers Get to Keep Them
If you were also shocked by seeing the sudden price drop on Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and thought it was a Christmas gift or simply too good to be true, you’re not alone. For some time, the game was live on Nintendo Switch 2 eShop with a massive 75% discount.
Meaning, the original price of the game, $99.99, was slashed into an eye-popping deal worth ~ $17.50. The listing went viral, with many players wondering.
CD Projekt Red has finally confirmed that the massive discount was merely the result of an internal submission error. According to the studio, incorrect pricing information was submitted during the promotional setup process, which temporarily pushed the game live at an incorrect price.
What made the situation more confusing was that an official Nintendo press release also included a 75% discount. Players got the impression that the deal was intentional. As a result, many made the initial jump and were able to grab the offer before it got rectified.
CD Projekt Red clarified that the pricing issue didn’t affect just one title. The error also affected the pricing of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, which displayed unintended discounts during the same window.
Once the mistake was identified, the publisher worked with Nintendo to correct the listings and restore the intended pricing structure. The good news is that early buyers still get the same discount as shown. CD Projekt Red confirmed that no refunds have been reversed and no licenses have been revoked, meaning anyone who managed to grab the deal will be able to keep it.

The issue specifically impacted the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop in the United States on December 22. Since then, the incorrect pricing has been fully corrected, and new, planned discounts are now live on the store.
