DDR5 RAM Prices in Germany Are Nearly 5X Higher Than Last Year
DDR5 RAM prices have surged to a new record high in Germany, with average pricing reaching 486% of July 2025 levels in August 2026.
That means a typical DDR5 memory kit now costs almost five times as much as it did just over a year ago. Nearly every DDR5 kit included in the latest pricing data became more expensive.
DDR5 prices start climbing sharply again
DDR5 pricing showed some signs of stability during April and May 2026, but that trend did not last.
Prices began accelerating again over the following months, pushing the overall DDR5 price index to a new high in August.
The figures come from 3DCenter’s latest memory price index, which uses listings collected through German price comparison service Geizhals.
64GB, 48GB, and 32GB DDR5 kits see major increases
Higher-capacity DDR5 kits experienced some of the biggest recent price jumps.
Several popular configurations recorded double-digit increases, including 64GB, 48GB, and 32GB DDR5 kits.
Only a small number of tracked kits avoided another increase. Even those remain extremely expensive compared with July 2025, with many still priced at more than 400% of their previous levels.
For PC builders, that makes memory one of the increasingly expensive parts of a new system.
AI demand continues putting pressure on memory supply
The ongoing AI infrastructure boom remains one of the major factors putting pressure on global memory supply.
The problem extends beyond desktop PCs. Higher memory costs are already pushing laptop prices higher as RAM costs surge.
There is little indication that the situation will improve soon. Valve has also warned that the memory and storage crisis could get worse.
RAM is not the only PC component becoming more expensive. NVIDIA RTX 50 GPU prices are also rising, adding further pressure to the cost of building or upgrading a gaming PC.
