Dell SE2726HG and SE2726HGS Bring 240Hz IPS Gaming to a Budget Price
Dell is shifting its hardware strategy as AI PCs dominate industry headlines. While companies like Intel push aggressive AI PC targets, Dell appears to be focusing on value-driven gaming hardware instead.
According to Guru3D, Dell has introduced two new budget gaming monitors: the SE2726HG and SE2726HGS.
Dell SE2726HG and SE2726HGS focus on budget gaming
Instead of expanding its AI PC portfolio, the company is targeting competitive gamers with high-refresh, affordable displays.
The new monitors aim at players who prioritize frame rate and motion clarity over pixel density and productivity features.
27-inch IPS panels with 240Hz refresh rate
Both the SE2726HG and SE2726HGS feature 27-inch IPS panels running at 1920×1080 resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate.
The 1080p resolution on a 27-inch panel keeps GPU demand lower and helps gamers sustain higher frame rates in esports titles. However, it sacrifices sharpness and workspace clarity compared to higher-resolution alternatives.
Dell lists 300 nits of brightness, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 99% sRGB coverage. The company advertises a 5ms standard response time, while an extreme overdrive mode claims up to 0.5ms. Users may need to balance overdrive settings carefully, as aggressive modes can introduce visual artifacts.
Both monitors support AMD FreeSync Premium, reducing screen tearing and stutter during fast-paced gameplay.
Connectivity and design choices
Connectivity includes two HDMI ports with variable refresh rate support and one DisplayPort 1.4 input. Dell did not include USB-C, a USB hub, or KVM functionality, reinforcing the gaming-first, budget-oriented approach.
Typical power consumption sits at 19.7W, with a maximum draw of 40W.
The primary difference between the two models comes down to ergonomics. The SE2726HGS includes a height-adjustable stand, while the SE2726HG ships with a fixed-height stand. Users who already rely on monitor arms may find the cheaper model more appealing.
Dell priced the SE2726HG at $114.40, while the SE2726HGS costs $149.60.
At those price points, Dell positions these displays as entry-level esports monitors rather than hybrid work-and-play solutions. Gamers seeking higher resolution or professional-grade features may look toward more advanced options like the Dell UltraSharp U5226KW.
