Discord Quietly Releases Native ARM64 App for Windows
Discord’s Windows on ARM app appeared online before an official reveal.
Recently, XBOX Game Pass Edition for Discord Nitro users was revealed, but Discord has more news for Windows users. The platform has now quietly launched a native Windows on ARM app, bringing better performance and efficiency to Snapdragon-powered laptops, as Neowin writes.
The new ARM64 version is now available through Discord’s official website. Discord has not made a formal announcement yet, but the download page now lets users choose between x86 and ARM64 after selecting Download for Windows.
Discord adds ARM64 download option
The release follows Discord’s earlier confirmation that a Windows on ARM client was in development. That confirmation came about a year ago, and the native app has now quietly appeared for users who want to install it manually.
The change matters because many Windows on ARM apps still run through emulation. A native Discord client should deliver smoother performance, faster startup times, and better battery efficiency on supported devices.
Why this matters for Snapdragon laptops
The biggest benefits should appear on laptops powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chips. These devices rely on ARM architecture, so native apps usually perform better than x86 versions running through compatibility layers.
Discord also matters beyond gaming. Many users rely on it for work groups, school communities, developer chats, and online events, so native ARM support makes Windows on ARM machines more practical for daily use.
Microsoft Store version still looks unchanged
Discord remains available through the Microsoft Store, but the current Store listing does not mention ARM64 support in its requirements.
For now, users who want the native version should use Discord’s official website and choose the ARM64 installer from the Windows download options.
Windows on ARM gets another useful app
The launch comes at a notable time for Microsoft’s ARM push. More Snapdragon-powered Windows laptops are expected, and Microsoft is also preparing new Surface devices with Snapdragon X2 chips.
A native Discord app will not change the platform alone, but it removes one more compatibility issue for users considering Windows on ARM hardware.
In other gaming news, 007 First Light will be available to preload only on PS5. Sony is also exploring picture-in-picture video feeds to make wait times less frustrating, while Summer Game Fest 2026 remains one of the next major events to watch for more gaming announcements.
