DMZ Mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4: Everything You Need to Know
If you were waiting for Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ details, Activision just dropped a huge batch of intel. The new extraction mode will throw players into Hajin, with persistent progression, rival Operators, dangerous bosses, dynamic missions, and plenty of reasons to keep deploying.
DMZ is built around one simple idea, get in and get out
Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ is an open-world extraction experience built around looting, objectives, combat, and extraction. Players can fight AI enemies and rival Operators while building their progression across deployments.
Every deployment contributes toward DMZ Player Level, which goes from Level 1 through Level 70. Looting, combat, and completing objectives can also improve the final After Action Report rating.
The Forward Operating Base also plays a major role outside deployments. Players can manage Operators, stash loot, craft equipment, purchase weapons, and unlock additional stations. That includes a 3D Printer, Gunsmith, Vendor, Bounty Leaderboard, Boss Board, and dedicated DMZ Progression system.
Hajin is packed with threats and high-value targets
The Hajin Exclusion Zone features more than 60 named locations, ranging from farmland and villages to military bases and dangerous urban districts. Some locations carry Extreme or Critical threat levels. Players will also encounter multiple enemy tiers, combat drones, helicopters, robot dogs, rival Operators, Lieutenants, and massive Commander enemies.
Interestingly, Dynamic Operations can provide DMZ XP, DMZ Cash, and increasingly valuable Supply Drops. Lieutenant Hunts add another layer of risk, while eliminating Commanders can provide rare 3D Printer Ingredients and other rewards.
The extraction itself will not be straightforward either. Exfil locations can become ambush points, while radiation spreads across Hajin and forces players to make decisions about when to leave. Call of Duty says more DMZ information is coming throughout the week, including additional gameplay footage and onboarding details.
