The eed_ec.dll is a DLL (Dynamic Link Library) file that is part of a Samsung printer driver known as the Samsung Easy Eco Driver. If you’ve encountered an error writing that eed_ec.dll is missing or was not found, the Samsung driver might be corrupted. You might have also deleted the file by mistake. If so, check the Recycle Bin and restore the file if you find it there.
How do fix eed_ec.dll errors?
1. Reinstall the program associated with eed_ec.dll
- Press Win + I to launch Settings
- Next, go to Apps > Installed Apps.
- Look for the Samsung printer software, click on the three dots to its right, and select Uninstall.
- Download and reinstall the latest version of the program from the official website.
If you are using a Samsung printer or have used one before, reinstalling its software will quickly fix this problem.
2. Run Windows System File Checker (SFC)
- Click the Start button, type cmd, and click on Run as administrator from the results.
- Type the following command and press Enter:
sfc /scannow
- Wait for the scan to complete and follow any on-screen instructions.
3. Copy the eed_ec.dll from another PC or from a trusted source
The eed_ec.dll file should be in the following folder: C:\Windows.old\WINDOWS\System32\eed_ec.dll
. If you have another machine that has the same Samsung printer installed, you can simply copy the DLL file from that PC and paste it into the same folder on your computer.
We don’t recommend downloading DLL files from unknown sources, as they may contain malware. A better and more reliable solution is to use Fortect. It is a dedicated app specialized in fixing many problems, including missing DLL files such as eed_ec.dll.
4. Perform a System Restore
- Press Win + R, type rstrui, and press Enter.
- Select a restore point from a date previous to this error started to occur and click Next.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system.
Restoring your system to a previous date will also restore the missing file and everything should go back to normal. However, you will also lose any software you installed after that date.
5. Register the DLL file manually
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) as instructed in Solution 2.
- Type the following command and press Enter:
regsvr32 eed_ec.dll
- Restart your PC and see if the problem has been fixed.
This solution will fix the eed_ec.dll not registered error. You might need to perform this action if you copy the DLL file from another computer.
By performing the solutions above, you should be able to fix any eed_ec.dll errors and restore your PC to normal functionality. However, if the DLL files continue to become missing, you should think about running a malware and virus scan on your PC. You can do that with Windows Defender but we recommend getting a more powerful antivirus for better computer security.
