Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas Remasters Are Being Developed, Confirms Bethesda

Fans have been waiting years to hear these words, and Bethesda has finally made them official. The studio has confirmed that remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are currently in development, putting an end to years of rumors and leaks surrounding the beloved post-apocalyptic RPGs.

Bethesda officially acknowledges both Fallout remasters

The confirmation comes as part of Bethesda Game Studios’ latest roadmap outlining the future of Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield. While discussing what’s next for the Fallout franchise, the developer revealed that it knows players have been eager to revisit older entries in the series.

Rather than announcing release windows or platforms, Bethesda, in an announcement, simply confirmed work is already underway.

We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

The statement marks the first official confirmation from Bethesda after years of speculation fueled by leaks, insider reports, and court documents that hinted older Fallout titles could eventually return.

Don’t expect them anytime soon

Speaking of the franchise’s future, Bethesda made it clear that the remasters are only one part of its long-term plans. The studio reiterated that Fallout 5 remains its long-range destination, while also confirming multiple Fallout projects are currently in active development. Not to forget, the studio is also mentioned that it is developing The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 on Creation Engine 3.

Meanwhile, Fallout 76 is set to receive its next major expansion, Raven Rock, in 2027, while Fallout Shelter continues to receive new content and an unscripted television project is also in development alongside Amazon Studios and Kilter Films.

That said, Bethesda stopped short of sharing when players can expect either remaster to arrive. The announcement confirms both projects exist, but for now, fans will have to wait until the studio is ready to reveal more details about the return of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
