Fallout 76 is Getting a Massive Raven Rock Expansion in 2027
It's a a prequel story to Fallout 3
Bethesda’s latest roadmap wasn’t just about the future of Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls 6. Alongside confirming that Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remasters are officially in development, revealing that The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 are being built on Creation Engine 3, and announcing a new Fallout project with Obsidian Entertainment, the studio also unveiled the next major chapter for Fallout 76.
Raven Rock takes Fallout 76 back before Fallout 3
As part of its long-term plans for the franchise, Bethesda confirmed that Fallout 76 will receive a major expansion next year called Raven Rock. According to the studio, the expansion serves as a prequel story to Fallout 3, giving players a chance to explore one of the series’ most recognizable locations before the events of the 2008 RPG.
Bethesda also reiterated that Fallout 76 remains an important part of its strategy, noting that millions of players are still exploring Appalachia together.

While the developer stopped short of revealing gameplay details, a release window beyond next year, or exactly how the expansion connects to Fallout 3, the announcement confirms that Bethesda still has significant plans for its online RPG.
With Raven Rock now officially announced, Fallout 76 players can look forward to another major adventure while Bethesda continues to work for the next generation of Fallout games.
