FFXIV Patch Notes Reveal Update 7.4 Into the Mist With New Raids, Trials, and UI Tools
Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.4, titled Into the Mist, officially launched on December 16, 2025, delivering a substantial content update for FFXIV: Dawntrail. The patch continues the main scenario storyline, pushing the Dawntrail narrative forward while clearly setting the stage for the game’s next expansion.
FFXIV: Dawntrail Update 7.4 is Here
One of the headline additions in Patch 7.4 is the final tier of the Arcadion raid series, known as the Heavyweight Division. Players can jump into Normal mode immediately, with an average item level requirement of 745. For high-end raiders, Savage difficulty arrives on January 6, 2026, targeting item levels between 760 and 770 and promising a tougher endgame challenge.
Patch 7.4 also delivers one of the most transformative quality-of-life updates in the game’s history: the complete removal of class, job, and level restrictions on glamour for armor and accessories. Players can now apply almost any cosmetic appearance regardless of role or progression. The system no longer requires full outfit sets to store glamours, making individual pieces far easier to manage. Many in the community already view this change as the biggest fashion and self-expression update Final Fantasy XIV has ever received.
On the PvE side, the patch introduces a new main story dungeon, Mistwake, which joins the Expert roulette lineup. A brand-new trial, Hell on Rails, draws inspiration from classic Final Fantasy themes, including Doomtrain. High-end players also gain access to Tsukuyomi’s Pain, a returning Unreal Trial designed to test experienced groups.
Additional updates include expanded Duty Support with NPC allies for older dungeons like Aurum Vale, the launch of PvP Series 10 alongside a new Frontlines map, and continued Cosmic Exploration and Occult Crescent content throughout the patch cycle.
Patch 7.4 rounds things out with notable UI upgrades, including a customizable Command Panel, a new Strategy Board for planning raids and duties, and fresh UI color themes such as Clear Green and Clear White.
For full details, Square Enix recommends reviewing the official Patch 7.4 notes. This isn’t the only game getting a massive content update, as the ARC Raiders Cold Snap update was released as well.
