Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 "Revelation" Releases on All Platforms in Spring 2027
Square Enix saved its biggest surprise for the very end. After months of speculation, the studio has officially announced Final Fantasy 7: Revelation, the third and final chapter in the remake trilogy, and it’s bringing some major changes with it.
The reveal closed out Summer Game Fest 2026 in dramatic fashion, confirming that Cloud’s journey is finally heading toward its conclusion. More importantly, the finale is abandoning the platform strategy that defined the previous entries.
As previously rumored, Square Enix today confirmed that Final Fantasy 7: Revelation will release simultaneously across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The studio is currently targeting Spring 2027 for release.
The Highwind finally takes center stage
One of the biggest crowd-pleasers during the reveal was the return of the Highwind. Players will be able to freely pilot the iconic airship across the world map and leap directly into the environment below through a new parachuting system. Rather than functioning as a simple fast-travel tool, the Highwind appears to play a major role in exploration.
Square Enix also showcased Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind in action for the first time. Vincent’s combat revolves around rapid firearm attacks and his signature monster transformations, while Cid introduces new synergy abilities designed around team-based combat.
A bigger endgame awaits
The trailer also introduced a new customization feature called the FIT Armor System, which allows players to alter both stats and character appearances independently from weapons. Speaking of fan favorites, the legendary Weapons are back as well. The gigantic creatures appear set to play a major role in both the story and high-level endgame content.
The game director Naoki Hamaguchi described the central theme of Revelation as “resolve,” with the narrative focusing on each party member confronting their fate before the trilogy’s final confrontation.
