Firefox’s new AI feature can monitor webpages and notify users about price drops, restocks, and more
Firefox is testing a hidden Smart Window feature in Nightly that can monitor webpages for price drops, restocks, ticket sales, and other changes.
Mozilla is expanding Firefox‘s experimental Smart Window with a hidden feature that can monitor webpages and notify users when selected conditions are met. Currently available for testing in Firefox Nightly, the feature lets users create alerts for price drops, product restocks, ticket sales, and other webpage changes.
We first spotted Smart Window as Firefox’s experimental AI-powered browser experience. It can assist with tasks based on the content of webpages and open tabs, giving users a way to interact with their browsing context through the browser’s AI interface. Mozilla is now adding the ability to keep checking webpages for specific conditions and alert users when they occur.
The internal about:smartwindowtasks page lets users create alerts for price drops, restocks, ticket sales, and more. Users select the webpage they want Firefox to watch and specify the condition they want it to monitor. Firefox then checks the page on a schedule and records the results in an alert history.
During our testing with Firefox Nightly, we created an alert to notify us when the price of an Apple MacBook Air on Best Buy dropped below $1,200. Firefox later detected that the price had fallen to $1,199, displayed a desktop notification, and recorded the successful match in the alert history.

Each alert includes options to edit, pause, or manually check it. Firefox also maintains a change history that shows when monitored conditions were met and displays the latest result for each tracked webpage.
The new monitoring feature lets Firefox check webpages in the background instead of requiring users to check them repeatedly. It periodically checks each monitored page and sends a notification when it finds the change the user is waiting for.
As with other experimental Firefox features, Mozilla has not indicated when, or if, Smart Window’s monitoring features will become available to all users.
