Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, officially titled “Override” is almost here. The new season adds rule-changing mechanics, fresh weapons, Sprites, and a stacked Battle Pass.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override releases on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Epic is rolling out the v42.00 update alongside the new season. The expected release time is around 4 AM PT / 7 AM ET on August 20. As of writing this, the server downtime is in progress. The exact online time of Fortnite server can shift if maintenance takes longer.

What is changing in Fortnite Override?

Override changes the match itself with Override Consoles. These consoles let players rewrite rules across the server after reaching and claiming them. Squad Overrides can provide stronger team-wide benefits. However, capturing one also reveals the squad’s location, creating a major risk.

The season also adds Midas’ Masterpiece and Mega Man’s Mega Buster. More crossover weapons are planned later, including the Kingdom Key and Rebecca’s Guns. The island is also receiving major changes. New locations include Sonic Green Hills Zone, Geno’s HQ, The Spire, Temple, and Pac-Man Island.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 ‘Override’ Battle Pass details

Sonic the Hedgehog leads the new Battle Pass, with Tails joining as a Sidekick. The Pass includes eight confirmed outfits. Players who purchase the Pass before August 27 at 11:59 PM ET can claim the Infiltrator Grace Crowne launch-week bonus.

Gifting the Pass during the season also unlocks Peril Peak Mali rewards for both players. Sprites are returning with a bigger role. The new Sprite Garden lets players display their collections, while Sprite Dust can unlock Loot Hacks.

Which gaming crossovers are coming?

Override is packed with gaming collaborations. Epic has confirmed content involving KINGDOM HEARTS, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Persona 5 Royal, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro.

More outfits and items will arrive throughout the season. Epic is also expected to reveal additional details through its update notes and seasonal announcements.
