Gemini Now Lets You Generate Docs, Sheets, Slides, and PDFs Inside Chat

The feature is now available globally to all Gemini app users

Google has introduced a new feature in Gemini that allows users to generate downloadable files directly from a chat prompt. Announced by CEO Sundar Pichai on X, the latest update removes the need to copy content into external apps or manually format documents.

Gemini now supports direct creation of Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs, and more from chat

Gemini can now create multiple file types, including PDFs, Microsoft Word documents (.docx), Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx), CSV files, and Google Workspace formats such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides. It also supports LaTeX, Markdown, plain text, and rich text formats.

The feature is designed to convert prompts into structured outputs instantly. For example, a user can request a budget sheet and receive a formatted Excel file, or turn notes into a Word document or PDF.

Once generated, files can be downloaded directly or exported to Google Drive, depending on the format. This reduces the need for switching between apps during basic document creation tasks.

The feature is now available globally to all Gemini app users. Google positions Gemini more directly against productivity tools by combining AI chat with file generation in one workflow. It also extends its compatibility across both Google Workspace and Microsoft Office formats.

All that said, it is still unclear how well the system handles complex formatting or large, detailed documents in practical use cases.
