Google is expanding advertisements in AI Mode to 10 additional countries, bringing sponsored results to more users of its AI-powered search experience. The company is also introducing ads that can appear during follow-up conversations in the United States.

According to Google’s announcement, advertisements will appear alongside AI-generated search results with clear sponsored labels.

Google AI Mode ads are expanding to 10 more countries

Google is extending AI Mode advertising beyond the United States to 10 additional markets, including Australia, Canada, India, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Singapore.

The company also plans to expand advertising to Brazil, Mexico, and the United Kingdom later in 2026.

The expansion allows advertisers to reach users directly within Google’s conversational search experience, rather than relying exclusively on traditional search results.

Google says users generally respond positively to relevant advertisements in AI Mode. According to the company’s research, sponsored product listings receive click-through rates comparable to organic results.

Google introduces sponsored ads during AI Mode follow-up conversations

Alongside the international expansion, Google is introducing multi-turn advertisements in the United States.

These ads can appear as users continue conversations with AI Mode and ask additional questions about a topic.

For example, someone researching a product might receive an initial AI-generated response, then encounter relevant sponsored listings while asking follow-up questions about pricing, features, or alternatives.

This approach allows Google to display advertisements throughout a search conversation rather than limiting them to the initial query.

Google says the advertisements will carry clear sponsored labels to distinguish them from AI-generated responses.

Google pushes further into AI search advertising

The expansion represents another step in Google’s efforts to monetize AI-powered search while maintaining free access to AI Mode.

By introducing advertising into follow-up conversations, Google can create additional opportunities for businesses to reach users as they research products and services.

The move also highlights the growing competition surrounding AI infrastructure and services. Recent reports suggest that OpenAI plans to buy Google’s AI chips, potentially strengthening Google’s position in the AI hardware market.

Meanwhile, Google continues developing its AI technology, including the recently introduced Gemini 4 Carbon with stronger cybersecurity safeguards.

The company is also bringing more AI-powered functionality to its productivity services, with Google Sheets gaining new charts and improved Excel support.

With AI Mode advertising reaching more countries and multi-turn ads launching in the United States, Google is moving toward making sponsored content a regular part of conversational search.
