Google Unveils Gemini 4 Carbon With Record Cybersecurity Scores and Stronger AI Safeguards
Google has just announced Gemini 4 Carbon, a new frontier model built for complex coding, cybersecurity, and long-running engineering tasks. The model claims leading benchmark results and stronger safeguards, while Google takes a cautious approach before opening access to everyone.
Gemini 4 Carbon targets harder coding and cybersecurity challenges
The company describes Gemini 4 Carbon as its strongest model yet. It ranks first on the updated Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5.0, scoring 59 points. The model builds on Gemini 4 Argon, which launched two weeks earlier. Google says Carbon can work through complicated engineering problems for days, including tracing subtle bugs and patching issues across large codebases.
Carbon also recorded an 89-point Elo improvement on WebDev Arena, reaching fourth place with a score of 1,768. Google says the model delivers stronger results across coding, agentic workflows, scientific tasks, and full-stack web development.

Google highlights major cybersecurity improvements
Cybersecurity is one of Gemini 4 Carbon’s biggest selling points. The model scored 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for vulnerability detection, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71% on CWE-bench for patching vulnerabilities.
Google also reports more than twice the success rate of Argon when generating secure code on internal benchmarks. Its Chrome team reportedly saw Carbon perform more than 10 times better than another frontier model at generating high-quality patches.
The company says Carbon also improves safety and reliability. It reduced high-severity misalignment alerts by almost 80% in internal coding environments and achieved a 0% attack success rate on the evaluated Gray Swan indirect prompt injection benchmark.
Gemini 4 Carbon rollout and pricing
Google is initially giving access to a limited group of cybersecurity defenders. It plans to expand access through its Fairwind Program while gathering feedback and improving safeguards.
Developers, businesses, and consumers will receive access via Google’s products later. Gemini 4 Carbon will launch at the same introductory price as Argon, costing $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Cached input tokens receive a 95% discount. Do note that the company hasn’t announced an exact date for general availability.
